The Netherlands Autism Register has been collecting information about autistic people in the Netherlands via online questionnaires for almost 10 years. In the OMA project (Online Measurement of Autism) we are going to collect information among the adult participants of the NAR in a different way, namely through online tasks.
The study
The online tasks involve perception (seeing and hearing), attention to emotions and memory. We want to investigate whether adults with and without autism differ in the way they do these tasks. If so, the tasks could potentially be added to diagnostic research in adults in the future.
To date, diagnostic autism research among adults is hampered because many diagnostic tools were originally designed for children and because reliable information about a person's early development is often lacking. We hope that the results of this study can contribute to better diagnostic research in adults.
The results
The group results of the study are fed back via the NAR website under the heading 'Publications'. All scientific articles are freely accessible via the website. If you wish, you can also receive individual feedback on your own research results. You can then see how you did some online tasks compared to other NAR participants.
